Job Description:
Our client is a leading global speciality chemicals and performance additive manufacturer with sales in over 100 countries. Products include biocides, preservatives and other materials sold into the coatings, plastics and other industrial applications to produce high performing, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly products.

Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Regional Sales Manager for a multi-state territory will need to be knowledgeable, organized, self-motivated, have a positive attitude and have a strong desire to achieve results.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Regional Sales Manager is accountable for administering and directing the implementation of sales and marketing business plan strategies so that product and volume potential can be realized. Ensures that customer requirements are satisfied on a regular basis. Meets with technical, purchasing, and the “decision makers” in order to sell company products and concepts. Manages and evaluates the sales performance of various agents to ensure that sales volume and gross profits meet or exceed Marketing and Sales business plan objectives. Ensures that agents meet with customers on a regular basis to provide customer support in order to satisfy customer needs. Evaluates market and customer intelligence in order to identify additional customer product applications in order to provide deeper account penetration.

Primary customer base includes, but is not limited to, producers of paints, inks, stains, coatings, adhesives, sealants, polymer emulsions, stucco, construction materials (wall board, joint cement, cementitious products, etc.), and HI&I (household, institutional, & industrial) products.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1. Actively participates in the development and implementation of strategic and tactical marketing and sales business plans that increase gross profit and expand market share.
2. Exceeds customer expectations on a routine basis, depending on size …daily/weekly/monthly.
3. Develops on an on-going basis, market intelligence required to gain competitive information as well as identify new applications for existing products in order to gain a competitive edge.
4. Provides customer with “best in class” customer care in order meet business plan objectives.
5. Directs the agents to emphasis profitability when selling various products to the customer by identifying the value added components of company products in order to create market demand.
6. Keeps abreast of new developments within the market place so that research and development can create profitable products.
7. Assists in creating competitive pricing strategies that articulates the added value of company products.
8. Directs the management of the entire sales cycle so that customers can receive products that satisfy current and future needs.
9. Performs special duties upon request.

WORKS CLOSELY WITH:

Science & Technology, Marketing, Customer Service, Finance

MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE:

1. Meet or exceed sales volume quotas.
2. Meet or exceed gross profit quotas.
3. Develop and implement plans to increase market share in assigned region.
4. Maintaining appropriate sales to expense ratios.

Candidate Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Business or Scientific Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, Marketing or Business.
• Ten to fifteen years of increasing marketing and/or sales experience within the specialty chemical or allied industry is required.
• Biocides and additives experience strongly preferred, especially in the paint and coatings industry.
• A documented history of profitable growth and successful sales experiences is required.
• Experience in chemistry and paint and coatings formulation a plus.
