Job Description: |
Our client is a leading global manufacturer of performance chemicals and additives for the coatings, personal care and related markets.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages customer projects, product development and application testing for a wide range of performance materials, including wetting agents, defoamers, dispersants, biocides, etc. for paints & coatings market in Europe.
REPORTS TO:
Director Product Development/R&D, Europe
WORKS CLOSELY WITH:
Technical Service, Europe, Sales Organization, Europe, Additives Group, International
OFFICE LOCATION:
North/Central Germany
MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE:
1. Develops accurate testing standards and methods.
2. Ensures the accuracy of customer responses and technical service reports.
3. Completes all projects within budget and time parameters.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Manages customer projects, product development and application testing for a wide range of performance materials including wetting agents, defoamers, dispersants, biocides, etc. for the paints & coatings market in Europe.
2. Writes project reports, manufacturing procedures and publications.
3. Makes internal and external presentations of research findings.
4. Sets up work programs or test designs for customer, marketing or product development projects including definition of milestones and timelines.
5. Executes, interprets and documents application tests in a self-organized manner.
6. Prioritizes projects together with Director Product Development/R&D, Sales and Marketing.
7. Manages resources and ensures proper allocation for timely completion of projects.
8. Performs other duties and special projects upon request.
SUPERVISION GIVEN AND RECEIVED:
Works under general management direction. Takes independent action and receives limited guidance on technical or professional aspects of job duties. Self-organized management of a portfolio of laboratory projects. Supervision of a team of three.

Candidate Requirements: |
Chemist – Ph.D. or Diploma/Master; expertise in Organic or Polymer Chemistry preferred.
Experience with additives for paints and coatings industry or construction materials is strongly preferred.
Computer literacy: MS-Office (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, Power Point).
Good English language skills.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT
Up to 20% business travel |
